Here in Montana we are beyond fortunate to be surrounded by many of the worlds best rivers. These rivers attract anglers from arround the world. That being said, there are many hidden gems right out our back door that fish just as well, if you are willing to work for it. Many of these lakes and streams involve a labor intensive hike up into the mountains to access. However, once you arrive, the fish are happy, hungry, and healthy. If you are looking to check off some bucket list trout species, this is also a great way to do that. Within an hour of the shop, we have native cutthroat and grayling, and even a few golden trout hanging out. Hikes into these lakes and streams usually range from about 2-6 miles depending on the species or experience you are after. That being said, if hiking is not your thing, we have a few alpine creeks and streams that are easily accessed by vehicle. These streams are generally full of cutthroat, brook trout, or rainbows that are more than willing to eat big dry flies. This is a trip that is designed for the angler that also enjoys adventure. In many of these locations, you will find solitude, beautiful views, and willing trout.
There are limited guides available who can run this trip. Call and inquire about dates. Additionally, The high country holds snow late into the summer and starting early in the fall. Options for this trip are limited when snow pack is severe. Mid July - early September is generally the best option.
