Holiday Gift Ideas 2016

Fly anglers are a notoriously difficult group to buy gifts for.  It's tough to know what they need or already have unless you spend a ton of time on the water with them.  We've put together some ideas to help you figure out what to get the picky angler in your life.  You can buy online or if you're in town stop by the shop and we can help guide you to that perfect present!

Stocking Stuffers:

Souplefly Bug Visor- Most serious fly anglers vehicles look like a continuation of their fly box with old flies stuck in the visor and bottles of floatant rolling around on the floor mats.  While this gives you fly fishing street cred, it doesn’t do anything for your vehicles resale value.  The Suplefly Bug Visor attaches to your truck or cars visor and has a fly patch for old flies, a floatant holder, and a tippet pouch.  The kicker is that you can take it off of your visor and use it as a lanyard or attach it to your waders for a quick after work fish.  Click Here to buy online.

Fishpond’s River Rat Beverage Coozie- What’s the worst part about rowing your buddies down the river?  It’s not the fact that they’re fishing and you’re not, it’s just damn hard to drink your beer while keeping the boat in position!  Enter the River Rat, it keeps your “beverage” nice and cool while keeping it close to hand with a neck strap.  The only downside is that you no longer have an excuse to be lazy on the oars! Fish Pond’s Sushi Roll- This was a hot item for Christmas last year.  The Sushi Roll is an alternative to traditional fly boxes.  Its unique design is a large sheet of foam that rolls into a compact tube but still carries more than enough flies.  Where it really excels is with your larger streamer patterns.  It’s much lighter than your traditional fly box and because it is not airtight your streamers won’t rust if you put them away wet. Flasks and Water Bottles- A flask is a necessity for cold weather fishing, a little nip of the fire-water is often all you need to keep fishing on those cold days.  We have some beautiful flasks with art from famous trout artists.  If swiggin the white lightning isn’t your thing we have coffee mugs and water bottles wrapped in similar art to keep you hydrated all day. Fly Selections- You pick the box and we’ll fill it with flies!  We can tailor the flies to different river systems, times of year, and hatches.  From just a couple flies to a couple dozen we’ve got you covered.  We guarantee they catch fish as long as the angler is doing their part!

Hats- You can never have too many hats, this rings especially true for fly anglers.  We’ve got a wide variety of hats for that special someone in your life! Click Here to view our hats!

Buffs- Buffs have become an important piece of fishing gear for us, whether it’s keeping the sun off your face in the summer or the wind off your neck in the winter these are a great piece of layering.  We have fish prints to camo and everything in between.

Fishing Gloves- Gloves have come a long way in the fishing world.  If you like your hands warm and dry but don’t mind a little bulk, check out the Kast Steelhead glove.  If you are looking for a little more dexterity but still need waterproof gloves the Patagonia R1’s are for you.  If you’re like me and hate wearing gloves check out the Patagonia Home Pool Fingerless glove.

"Big" Gifts

Fly Tying Vise- Give the gift that will last a lifetime!  Vises are a great gift for the avid fly angler looking to go to the next level with fly fishing.  There is something to be said about sitting down at the vise on a cold night, tying up a few flies and then using them to catch some fish the next day.  It brings the whole experience full circle and is a great way to learn the intricacies of bug life cycles and hatches.  We have a wide array of vises for any budget and all of our staff are extremely knowledgeable to help you make the right decision.
