Lamson Liquid and Remix, quality for those of us on a budget by Phil Churchill

I was a big fan of the Konic and I was afraid introducing these reels would take away from Lamson's reputation because the konic had such a loyal fan base. With the populariity of fly fishing blowing up in recent years companies are making an effort to make quality products at an affordable price allowing folks to get into the game without breaking the bank. Getting into fly fishing can be intimidating when you start to add up all the costs but Lamson has produced two budget friendly reels that define the saying "bang for your buck". The liquid 2 retails for $99.95 which will fit a 5/6wt and a 3.5 will run you $109.95 for a 7/8wt if you want to get a streamer rod setup. The remix 2 retails for $169.95 and the Remix 3.5 runs $179.95. The liquid is a pressure cast aluminum frame and large arbor spool with a sealed conical drag system that you've come to know and love from Lamson. The difference between the Liquid and Remix is that the Remix has a machined 6061 aluminum, stainless steel case, which is paired with a pressure cast spool. Lamson calls the Remix a "hybrid". Half machined, half cast. The remix also has the sealed conical drag system as well and spools are interchangable between the two models. So if you're in the market for a new reel that will take a beating but not brake the bank account look no further!
