Land of the Giant Jet Boat Trip

So the rumors have been for decades that there are monster fish that reside between Hauser and Holter Lakes on the Missouri. The name Beaver Creek and tales of 30+ inch trout have been whispered amongst fishermen and close knit fishing circles in Montana since long before anyone was outfitting with jet boats on this stretch of water. Today the short stretch of river locked between two lakes on one of the most famous name sake rivers in the world, the Missouri, is far from a secret, but the fish have lived up to the lore. The Land of the Giants Trip is one that is offered legally by very few Outfitters in the state of Montana due to the requirement for the guide to hold a Coast Guard Certified Captains License. At Montana Troutfitters we're lucky to have Rick Matney who is certified and insured to run these trips with us and has the experience running an operation in Alaska with Jet Boats and Charter Boats for Steelhead. Rick's experience behind the wheel on the water is something you'll be happy to have, not to mention the guy’s uncanny knack to get you into big fish.

We offer Jet Boat Trips on other rivers as well, but the Land of the Giants on the Missouri is an opportunity to catch consistent 20 plus inch fish in a river setting year round. Spring and Fall offer up the best shot at truly trophy fish with the spring fishing targeting rainbows and the fall fishing targeting brown trout primarily. Dry fly fishing is at a minimum up here though, this is big fish country and these big fish want to be fed eggs and meat for their meals. As such you should expect to be nymphing and streamer fishing on this trip - leave the five weights at home, you'll want a stout 6 or 7 weight or larger up here. The opportunity to catch a few of a lifetime exists on this trip, and so we recommend bringing along your own camera as well! Due to the limited number of legal Jet Boat guides in the state of Montana, we offer these trips on a request basis only and are subject to our availability.
